A double dose of adventure and excitement on the
high seas is assured with the arrival of our second wooden sailing
ship to fly the Jolly Pirates flag. Since the fun of the Jolly
Pirates' own exceptional style of service, Sail, Snorkel, Swim
and Swing couldn't be contained on just one boat, our Jolly Gang
made the wise decision to expand our fleet to two.
Brought to Aruba just recently, the 85-foot addition
to the Jolly Pirates family is an identical Brazilian beauty,
bedecked in teak and mahogany hardwoods and dressed in billowing
white sails. Forgoing the traditional champagne, self-proclaimed
pirate-lovers recently celebrated the picturesque sight of twin
Old World Schooners on the horizon with ice-cold "Pirate's
Poison". Captain Harald explains we found the right boat
at the right time. He is clearly excited by the prospect of being
able to offer more of our special brand of Jolly Sailing Adventures. |
| Jolly Pirates II Arrived
in 2006! |
 |
| With nearly ten years under under
our belts and thousands of successful snorkel and sunset cruises,
and with the encouragement of repeat guests, we went for it. It
was a big decision and the long process in getting the boat to
Aruba was well worth it. The new boat is beautiful, sails like
a dream and is the perfect companion to the current Jolly Pirates
ship.
It took nearly four months in Brazil to renovate
and make the boat ready for the trip to Aruba. At the helm was
Captain Julio who made the three-week, 3,800 mile journey along
with Edwin our new Maintenance Chief and with the help of fellow
sailors and friends from the Brazilian boatyards. It was these
same friends from Brazil who helped the Jolly Pirates set sail
just over a year ago after the loss of our original Jolly Pirates
Schooner. Luck was again on our side when another gaff-rigged
schooner of exceptional craftsmanship became available. Julio,
who made the voyage twice bringing both of our Jolly Pirates charming
sailing vessels to Aruba happily reports that after months of
hard work, everything is now ship-shape and ready to officially
launch his next ship. |
